This is an introductory basic pistol course for those who are novice shooters and/or are considering or have recently obtained their permit to carry but maybe lacking the skills or confidence to take their pistol craft to the next level.

During this training we start at ground level with heavy emphasis on firearm safety and responsibility.  We move onto a number of dry firing drills which introduce the shooter to sight picture, grip, stance, presentation, trigger press and follow-through.  Each lesson builds on the previous block of instruction as we progress onto live fire instruction.  As students progress with their live fire instruction, the student receives personalized coaching and instruction for better shot placement.  The emphasis of this course is safety, proper shooting form and accuracy!  As the student becomes more familiar and confident with their firearm, speed will come naturally!

What you'll need:

  1. Semi-automatic pistol and/or revolver.  Caliber minimum and maximum:  9mm - .45 caliber (no exceptions)
  2. A minimum of three pistol magazines and mag pouch (or pockets) to secure your extra magazines on your person
  3. You need to be familiar with your firearm!  This shouldn't be the first time firing your handgun.  You are expected to load your magazines, rack your slide to chamber a round as well as lock your pistol slide back when off the line.
  4. An outside of the waistband hip holster.  No shoulder, cross draw, behind the back, ankle, pocket or belly holsters!
  5. Minimum of 250 rounds of ammunition (no reloads - factory ammo only)
  6. Hearing and eye protection required (instructor prefers students have electronic hearing protection)
  7. Baseball style cap (keeps ejected brass from striking you in the face)
  8. Clothing according to weather/environment.  The outdoor range is 75% covered.  You will be exposed to the elements.
  9. Water/Snacks
  10. A training attitude!
